2017 Pig/Pork Information and Reservation Page
This information pertains to the 2017 Spring pigs.
We are looking for them to be ready in the end of April.
Our pigs feast on a tasty feed that we have custom mixed just for our farm by a local pig farmer. Not some big mill that churns it out by the 1000s of tons. The grain mix for our pigs contains zero GMOs so you can feel good about getting all the nutritional benefits of the pork.
The pigs spend the fall and winter growing in a nice open, but covered environment so they can spend more time growing rather than fighting the harsh Idaho winter weather conditions. Their area is completely open to the fresh air and they have plenty of room to run around and play.
What are we Talking About Here?
We raise the pigs to the 265-275 lb range, but you only pay for finished product. Typically, that equates to about 200 lbs of pork. Our charge is $3.75/lb of finished pork. We take our pigs to Wakefield Meats in Melba who charges a kill fee of $40 (whole pig) and a cut and wrap fee of 45¢/lb and 55¢/lb for cured meats like ham and bacon. That's it! That's all the costs for the best tasting pork you might very well ever eat. This stuff is TRULY delicious. The pork is juicy and tender with the perfect amount of fat to make it truly a flavor to remember.
We treat our pigs very well allowing them to root around in an airy and covered area encouraging them to simply be pigs while being protected from the harsh summer elements. We raise happy, non-stressed pigs and the tasty meat is a direct reflection of this.
The number of pigs available is limited and they sell very quickly (as we found out with our fall pigs). So call, text or email us to reserve a pig now so we know how many to order in September to start growing. We will answer any questions ensuring the comfortable feeling that comes with an informed and intelligent decision.
While it may seem like a lot of money to come up with all at once, the pork can cover the majority of a family of four's annual meat budget. We are also happy to work with you by spreading out your payments over a few months to make it more manageable.
And no, you don't have to own a separate freezer to hold the pork. It will fit into most standard refrigerator/freezer units.
